في شقته الصغيرة بالطابق التاسع عشر، اعتاد أن يعيش وحيداً منذ زمن، وسيبقى كذلك حتى آخر يومٍ في حياته، لأنه كان يخلط بين الحب والألفة. كان يخلط أيضاً بين أصيص الزهور ومنفضة السجائر عندما يدخن للدرجة التي كاد يفقد معها القليل المتبقي من عقله إذ صار للرماد منظر الزنابق. وعندما بات يخلط بين الجدار والمرآة آمن بقدرته الخارقة على أن يكون لا مرئياً في بعض الأوقات. في يومه الأخير سيخلط بين السماء والبحر، وستعتريه رغبة عارمة بالذهاب هناك ولكنه للأسف سيخرج من النافذة التي صار يخلط بينها وبين الباب وسيتمزق جسده أمام دهشة المارة الذين سيخلطون بدورهم بين رغبته في السباحة والانتحار
