انفردت مصر القديمة بعدد كبير من لعب الأطفال، والتي لم يلعب بها الأطفال فقط، بل كان للكبار أيضًا نصيب فيها. فلن تصدق أنهم صنعوا عربة بأربعة عجلات التي اعتبرتها (دفع رباعي) وهو نفس الاختراع الذي لعبنا به في طفولتنا. ولن تصدق أنهم صنعوا العرائس المتحركة، ولعبة الشطرنج والسلم والثعبان وكذلك تلك اللغبة التي نسميها تشاينيز ظنًا أنها من الصين. ولن تصدق أنهم أصحاب أقدم نرد (زهر الطاولة) في التاريخ. وكذلك الحصان المتحرك والقط المتحرك والفأر المتحرك والكلب المتحرك والأقزام المتحركة.
لقد لعبوا الكرة والهوكي والتحطيب والمبارزة والمصارعة ورفع الأثقال، واابتكروا الحفلات التنكرية والأقنعة. ولن تصدق أنهم اخترعوا تلك العوامة لحماية أنفسهم من الغرق، ورقصوا الباليه والأكروبات ... وغير ذلك الكثير مما جعل مصر في المقدمة.
