يُمْكِنُ النَّظَر الَى عَمَلِ هَارِيسْ عَلَى أَنَّهُ فَسَحَ الْمَجَالَ لِمَجْمُوعَةٍ وَاسِعَةٍ مِنْ الْأَسَالِيبِ وَالْمَفَاهِيمِ الْخَاصَّةِ بِاللُّغَةِ. يُوَفِّرُ الِاكْتِسَاحَ التَّارِيخِيَّ الْوَاسِعَ لِكِتَابَاتِهِ وَتَصَوُّرَاتِهِ عَنْ الْفَنِّ وَالْكِتَابَةِ عَلَى وَجْهِ الْخُصُوصِ مَادَّةً لِاسْتِجَابَةٍ أَكَادِيمِيَّةٍ مَفْتُوحَةٍ وَإِبْدَاعِيَّةٍ عَنْ أَسْئِلَةِ اللُّغَةِ وَالتَّوَاصُلِ. يَتَبَنَّى هَارِيسْ خِطَابَ التَّحَرُّرِ وَالْمَسْؤُولِيَّةَ وَيَرْفُضُ الِانْبِهَارَ الثَّقَافِيَّ وَالْفِكْرِيَّ الَّذِي يُمَثِّلُ إِرْثًا لِلتَّنْظِيرِ اللِّسَانِيِّ الْحَدِيثِ ، وَ خُصُوصًا فِي الْفُرُوعِ الشَّكْلِيَّةِ لِفَلْسَفَةِ اللُّغَةِ وَاللِّسَانِيَّاتِ. يَنْبَغِي لِلْأَفْرَادِ وَالْمُجْتَمَعَاتِ أَنْ لَا يُفَوّضُوا مَسْؤُولِيَّتَهُمْ الْأَخْلَاقِيَّةَ وَالثَّقَافِيَّةَ إِلَى فِئَةٍ مِنْ الْخُبَرَاءِ الْمَعْنِيِّينَ ذَاتِيًّا فِي اللُّغَةِ ، وَلَا يَجِبُ أَنْ يُخْطِئُوا فِي التَّعْرِيفَاتِ الشَّرْطِيَّةِ لِلْخِطَابِ الْأَكَادِيمِيِّ تُجَاهَ الْوَاقِعِ الْمُعَقَّدِ وَالْمُتَعَدِّدِ الْأَوْجَهِ لِعَوَالِمِنَا التَّوَاصُلِيَّةِ الْمَحْدُودَةِ وَغَيْرِ الْمَحْدُودَةِ.
إِنَّ مَفَاهِيمَ "اللُّغَةِ" وَ "الْكِتَابَةِ" بِالنِّسْبَةِ لِهَارِيسْ لَيْسَتْ فِئَاتٍ ثَقَافِيَّةً أَوْ اجْتِمَاعِيَّةً ثَابِتَةً؛ ان الْحُدُودَ بَيْنَ لُغَةِ الْإِنْسَانِ وَلُغَةِ الْحَيَوَانِ وَ اللَّا لُغَةً لَا يُمْكِنُ تَحْدِيدُهَا إِلَّا عَنْ طَرِيقِ عِلْمِ الْأَحْيَاءِ أَوْ أَيِّ تَخَصُّصٍ أَكَادِيمِيٍّ آخَرَ. فَمَا نَفْهَمُهُ الْيَوْمَ عَلَى أَنَّهُ كِتَابَةٌ قَدْ يُنْظَرُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْمُسْتَقْبَلِ الْبَعِيدِ عَلَى أَنَّهُ مُجَرَّدُ وَسِيلَةٍ بُدَائِيَّةٍ مَا قَبْلَ كِتَابِيَّةٍ ، أَوْ حَتَّى "غَيْرِ كِتَابَةٍ". يُوَضِّحُ هَارِيسْ النُّقْطَةَ بِهَذِهِ الطَّرِيقَةِ فِي إِعَادَةِ التَّفْكِيرِ فِي الْكِتَابَةِ:
( حِينَ تَعْتَادُ الْأَجْيَالُ الْقَادِمَةُ الْجُلُوسَ عَلَى لَوْحَةِ الْمَفَاتِيحِ وَ "كِتَابَةِ" مُنْتَجٍ سَمْعِيٍّ بَصَرِيٍّ يَتَضَمَّنُ أَصْوَاتًا وَأَشْكَالَ حُرُوفٍ وَصُوَرًا مُتَرَابِطَةً بِشَكْلٍ مَنْهَجِيٍّ ، فَإِنَّهُمْ يَكْتَسِبُونَ مَفْهُومًا جَدِيدًا لِلْكِتَابَةِ وَمَفْهُومًا جَدِيدًا لِلْأَدَبِ وَمَفْهُومًا جَدِيدًا لِلُّغَةِ).
لَقَدْ حَاوَلْتُ فِي جَمْع وَتَرْجَمَة اضْمَامَةٍ مِن الْأَوْرَاقِ وَالدِّرَاسَاتِ الَّتِي كَتَبَهَا رُوِيْ هَارِيسْ انْ تَكُونُ مَدْخَلًا لِلْقَارِئِ الْعَرَبِيِّ لِمَعْرِفَةِ أَفْكَارِ هَارِيسْ فِي الْمَذْهَبِ الَّذِي أُسِّسَ لَهُ وَهُوَ اللِّسَانِيَّاتُ التَّكَامُلِيَّةُ.
