هذا الكتاب جولة فقهية مقارنة راشدة، بوصايةٍ مُحْكَمةٍ من قواعد الأصلين؛ أصول الدين وأصول الفقه، في قضيةٍ من قضايا الجدل الفكري العالي، والمثاقفة العلمية غير المنقطعة عن موائد الحوار الديني واللاديني، ألا وهي قضية التكفير (الحكم بالردّة). وهذا الكتاب نَسَقٌ بحثيٌّ متعدّدُ الأبعاد والمسارات في هذه القضية، نقّب فيه الباحث عن جذور الإشكالات المعرفية الحافّة بجملة مسائل التكفير الكلامية والأصولية والفقهية واللغوية والفلسفية، بغيةَ استكشاف مداركِ التكفير، والقانونِ الحاكم في التأويل، ومعيارِ الضروري في الدين، ونخْل تاريخ الصراع على الحدّ الصحيح للفرقة الناجية، وإزاحة الشبهات المعاصرة المستحكمة في مسألة حكم المرتد.
إنّ استعادة الأنظار الفقهية في هذه القضية ـ بإشراف العلوم التأصيلية وعلوم اللسان العربي ـ تقطع عن العقل الإسلامي تشويشاتٍ وأغلوطاتٍ جرّت على المسلمين ويلاتٍ ما زلنا غرقى حِمَمها. والكتاب محاولة لإعادة موضعة هذه القضية (التكفير) في مسالكها المنهجية المتكاملة السديدة، بدقةٍ وموضوعية، وتجرّدٍ للأفكار، وعنايةٍ بالتأصيل، وتحريرٍ للمناطات، وتخليصٍ للاشتباكات الموهومة في مسائل التكفير.
والكتابُ في أصله أطروحة دكتوراه باذخة، حازت أعلى درجةِ امتياز.
