تهتمّ هذه الدراسة بالتكامل بين الإنسانيات والطبيعيات، منطلقة من أنّ الطرفين يمثّلان ثنائية ضدية، والعلاقة بين الطرفين علاقة تضاد، لا نفي، وفي علاقة التضاد تكامل، فالتضاد مدعاة للتكامل في النهاية، ويقوم جوهر التضاد على اشتمال كلّ ضدّ شيئاً من خصائص ضدّه، ففي الإنسانيات شيء من الفيزياء حين يتعمّق الأديب في قضايا الوجود، ويلجأ الفيزيائي الحديث إلى الخيال والتفكير بشاعرية حين يبحث في عالم ما دون الذرّة المتناهي في الصّغر، وعالم المجرّات المتناهي في الكبر.
وترى مؤلفة الكتاب أننا في أمسّ الحاجة إلى تجديد الخطاب الفكريّ، وتقديم صورة جديدة من الحوار الثقافي بين الإنسانيات والطبيعيات، فيمكن للأديب أن يفكّر، وينتج أدباً مماثلاً لما توصّلت إليه الفيزياء الحديثة بطريقته الأدبية؛ لأنّ العالم واحد مهما تعدّدت مسالكه، ومهمّة الأديب والعالِم فهمُه وتفسيره.
وقد بنت الكتاب على مقدّمة، وتمهيد وضحت فيه المقصود من الأدب التكاملي، وتحدثت فيه عن ضرورة التكامل بين الإنسانيات والطبيعيات، وقسمت الدراسة إلى أربعة فصول تطبيقية، عالجت في كلّ فصل موضوعاً مستقلاً.
