يعدّ كتاب “الخيوط المنسية: اليمن و30 عاماً من حكم علي عبدالله صالح”، بنظر باحثين، أهم كتاب صدر إلى اليوم، حول فترة حكم الرئيس اليمني الراحل علي عبدالله صالح سواء من الناحية التوثيقية بما حواه من معلومات أو من الناحية الفكرية والتحليلية التي تناولت فترة ما قبل وأثناء حكم صالح وتضمنت قراءات في سيناريوهات محتملة، جاء مسار الأحداث، ليعزز ما ذهب إليه الكاتب.
صدر الكتاب في يوليو من العام 2008 لمؤلفه الكاتب والباحث عادل الأحمدي عن مركز نشوان الحميري للدراسات والإعلام في 165 صفحة، وصدرت منه طبعتان في العامين 2008 و2009 وتزامنت الطبعة الأولى مع الذكرى الثلاثين لتولي صالح الحكم.
ويوضح المؤلف الأحمدي أن الكتاب على الرغم من عدم تجاهله العديد من الألغام والأحداث والسياسات، المسكوت عنها في حينه، إلا أنه نال احتراماً من ألد خصوم صالح وأشد أنصاره على حد سواء.
وفي تقديمه للكتاب، يقول وزير الإعلام الأسبق الأستاذ نصر طه مصطفى “لا يسعى عادل الأحمدي من خلال هذا الكتاب إلى تقديم رصد تاريخي متسلسل لمسار حكم الرئيس صالح لكنه يسعى من خلال موقعه الفكري والسياسي المستقل، إلى تقديم قراءة جديدة غير تقليدية وغير متزلفة لثلاثين عاما من قيادة الرئيس لليمن بكل ما فيها من انتصارات وانكسارات، وإنجازات وانتكاسات، وتحالفات وصراعات، وآمال وآلام… ولأن الهدف موضوعي بحت فإني أظن أن عادل قد توفق كثيرا في العديد من وقفاته التحليلية المميزة والشجاعة والجريئة”
