رواية واقعية تطوي في صفحاتها جزء مرير من حياة جد وعمة الكاتب، التي تعرضت لحادث مهول وهي في سن صغير، وبأمر الأطباء تم نقلها بين العديد من المستشفيات، وقد ذاق والدها(جد الكاتب) العذاب كله في الحزن المرير على صغيرته، وقد كان فقيرا لا يتحمل أعباء العلاج الطاغية في قصر العيني بالقاهرة، وعمليات خاصة وجب عليه دفع حسابها كاملا، ويكمل حنان الأب بشهامة خطيبها حينها، وما تركها أي منهما في محنتها أبدا، وهذا ما جعل الشقاء ضئيل من الناحية النفسية.
