عندما نحاول أن نترجم معنى كلمة أخبار فإننا نواجه مشكلة مزدوجة هى اختلاف الوسائل الإلكترونية عن الوسائل المطبوعة ودور كل منهما فى ترجمة هذا المصطلح وكذلك طبيعة الجمهور الذى توجه إليه الأخبار ولذلك لابد أن نأخذ فى الاعتبار تأثير الأخبار على الإذاعة وتأثير الإذاعة على الأخبار .
والعمل الإذاعى فى الأساس والجوهر حرفة تقوم على مجموعة من الأسس التى يمكن اكتسابها عن طريق التعليم المنهجى والتدريب المنظم وحدهما ومن هنا جاءت فكرة هذا الكتاب الذى يضم بين دفتيه احدي عشر فصلا : الفصل الأول عن و الفصل الثانـي تناول الأخبار وأهميتهـا ودار الفصل الثالث حول تصنيف الأخبار الإذاعية أما الفصل الرابــع فقد تناول مصادر الأخبار الإذاعية والفصل الخامـس سلط الأضواء حول نشرة الأخبــار الإذاعية كما تناول الفصل السادس أشكال البرامج الإخبارية الإذاعية والفصل السابع تناول قارئ النشرة في الإذاعة أما الفصل الثامن فقد تناول الأخبار التليفزيونية والفصل التاسع تناول أيضا مصادر أخبار التليفزيون ودار الفصل العاشـر حول مندوب الأخبار في التليفزيون والفصل الحادي عشر سلط الضوء حول قـارئ نشرة أخبار التليفزيون
