تضمنت هذه الصفحات التعريف بنخبة من شيوخ وادي سوف، ومن مدينة قمار تحديدا. والخيط الرابط بين أولئك الشيوخ أنهم أسهموا في وقت عصيب (ساعة العسرة) في صناعة المشهد الثقافي لمدينة قمار، كان هذا أواخر القرن التاسع عشر والنصف الأول من القرن العشرين، كما أنهم لم ينالوا ما يستحقون من الاهتمام بهم وبآثارهم. لقد كانت مشاربهم متنوعة؛ فمنهم الصوفي، ومنهم الإصلاحي، ومنهم من لا صلة له بالجانبين. كما أن فيهم المقرئ، والأديب، والفقيه، والقاضي، والصحفي، والمدرّس، والواعظ، والشاعر. ولكل واحد منهم جانبا من المعاناة وطرفا من التميز؛ يدفع الأول إلى مواجهة الصعاب والتحديات، ويرفع الثاني سقف الآمال والطموحات عاليا؛ وكل هذا نافع للقارئ المثقف، ومفيد في بعث الهمم نحو الإيجابية في الفكر والسلوك، إلى جانب ما يتضمنه من أنس وارتياح عند مطالعة تلك النصوص الأدبية والأخبار التاريخية المتعلقة بمن تجمعنا معهم وشائج القربى وصلة الجوار.
