إن غياب الوعي والجهل اللذان أطبقا على أمتنا وظلَّلا بخيامهما على عقول عددٍ ليس بالقليل من أبنائها جعلا كثيرين من شبابنا يهرعون وراء سراب خادع من الكلمات المنمَّقة، والعبارات الخدَّاعة، والشعارات الزائفة، التي صوَّرت القرى وأهلها بصفات يندى لها الجبين، ويَخْجل منها كلُّ ذي لُبٍّ وغيرةٍ. تلك الصفات لم يتم الترويج لها من قِبل أبناء المدن فحسب، بل ومن أبناء القرى أيضًا من صار يردد مثل هذه الصفات دون أدنى إعمال منه للعقل والمنطق. جاء هذا الكتاب كي يجيب عن تساؤلات: لماذا اختار المؤلف لفظة "الحياة" مع القرية ولفظة "العيش" مع المدينة؟ هل حقًا الحياة في المدينة أفضل من العيش في القرية؟ هل يضيع العلم في القرى؟ وهل طابع أهل القرى الجهل والغل والحقد والحسد؟ وماذا عن القرية في القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية؟ ومن الناحية التاريخية؟
