باندلاع الحرب العالمية الأولى التي انتقل تأثيرها إلى جميع بلدان العالم، ومنها بلدان المشرق العربي التي كانت تابعة للإمبراطورية العثمانية، وقد احتلت في سياسة القوى الاستعمارية ً واسعاً وحيزاً مهماًبلدان المشرق العربي مكانا المتحاربة من أجل السيطرة عليها والتحكم بها بسبب موقعها الاستراتيجي الهام والقريب من البحر الأبيض المتوسط والبحر الأحمر في آن واحد، كما أن يصل بينها وبين أقاليم وإمارات شبه الجزيرة العربية، ولهذه ً حديدياًهناك خطا الأسباب الآنفة الذكر ما ان دقت طبول الحرب حتى سارعت بريطانيا وحلفائها إلى مفاوضة زعماء العرب للانضمام إليها، والقتال في صفوفها ضد الدولة العثمانية وأعوانها، وتعطيل أي تحركات يقوم بها الجيش العثماني في المنطقة العربية، مستغلة الخلافات والنزاعات التي كانت قائمة بين الدولة العثمانية والعرب، وذلك بسبب السياسة الرعناء التي كانت تسلكها الدولة العثمانية تجاه العرب من إقصاء وتهميش وسجون وتعذيب وإعدام للثائرين العرب، وخاصة ما قام به السفاح جمال باشا أثناء الحرب العالمية الأولى من إعدام للعشرات من القوميين العرب بل المئات، أضف إلى ذلك سياسة التتريك في المناصب العليا، ومحاربة اللغة العربية وغيرها من الأساليب القمعية والإذلالية لكل من يرفع رأسه من العرب.
