فإنّ دراسة الجذر سواء أكان أحادياً، أى: أنَّ صفة الحرف هي التي تحدد معنى اللفظة، أم ثنائياً وهذا يكون من باب أصل بنية الكلمة أنَّها ثنائية، أم ثلاثياً وأغلب الالفاظ على هذا الجذر، أم رباعياً أو خماسياً حسب أصل بنية هذه اللفظة تعدُّ أساس الاشتقاق والمناسبة بين هذا الجذر والاشتقاق الصغير.
