العطار (1190 - 1250 هـ = 1776 - 1835 م)
حسن بن محمد بن محمود العطار ( نسبة لبيع العطر الذي كان صنعة أبيه) : من علماء مصر.
أصله من المغرب، ومولده ووفاته في القاهرة.
أقام زمنا في دمشق، وسكن أشكودرة (بألبانيا) واتسع علمه.
وعاد إلى مصر، فتولى إنشاء جريدة (الوقائع المصرية) في بدء صدورها، ثم مشيخة الأزهر سنة 1246 هـ، إلى أن توفي.
وكان يحسن عمل المزاول الليلية والنهارية.
وله رسالة في (كيفية العمل بالاسطرلاب والربعين المقنطر والمجيب والبسائط) وكتاب في (الإنشاء والمراسلات
- ط) و (ديوان شعر) وحواش في العربية والمنطق والأصول، أكثرها مطبوع.
أفرد الحسيني لترجمته عشر صفحات وللشاعر محمد عبد الغني حسن (حسن العطار - ط)
