Book Description
في مقدمة تاريخه كتب "البرزالي" ما يلي: "... كان تاريخ الشيخ الإمام العلاّمة الحافظ المفتي "شهاب الدين عبد الرحمن بن إسماعيل المقدسيّ"، المعروف "بأبي شامة" الذي جعله ذيلاً على كتابه المسمَّى بــ"الروضتين في أخبار الدولتين"، ورتّبه على السِنين، وابتدأ فيه من أول سنة تسعين وخمس ماية، وانتهى فيه إلى سنة وفاته سنة خمس وستين وستماية، وهي سنة مولدي، مجموعاً حسناً، وذيلاً مستحسناً، ولمّا طالعتُه وحصّلت به نسخة وقابلته أحببتُ أن أذيّل عليه من تلك السنة، وأن أحذوا (!) حذْوَه فيما أتقنه وبيَّنه، وأن أهتدي بأنواره، وأن أُعَدّ من جملة أعوانه وأنصاره، ليكون تاريخه مَعْلَماً، وإتقانه مُحكماً". بهذه المقدّمة القصيرة أوضح "البرزالي" سبب تصنيفه لهذا الكتاب، إذ المعروف أنّ "أبا شامة المقدسي" ألّف كتابه "الروضتين"، ثم ذيّل عليه، فجاء كتاب "البرزالي" ذيلاً على "ذيل الروضتين"، وهو يقتفي أثره، فعُرِف بــ"المقتفي على كتاب الروضتين"، كما عُرف بــ"تاريخ البرزالي"؛ ويؤرّخ الكتاب لثلاثٍ وسبعين سنة، من سنة 665 إلى سنة 738هـ، أي من سنة ولادة المؤلف إلى السنة التي سبقت وفاته. يكتسب هذا الكتاب أهمّيته من صدقيّة مؤلّفه، فهو محدّث قبل أن يكون مؤرّخاً، ومن يكون محدّثاً حافظاً عارفاً بالحديث ورُواته يكون عالماً بعلم الجرح والتعديل الذي يضع المقاييس لصدق الرواة ورواياتهم، أو ضعفهم وتدليسهم؛ وقد تنوعت مصادر "البرزالي" في جمْع مادّة كتابه "المقتفي" بين الكتب المتداوَلَة المؤلَّفة في عصره، وبين الرُواه الذين كان يلتقيهم ويسمع منهم مباشرةً، وبين المراسلين له من مختلف البلاد، من حيث كان يُقيم شبكة مراسلاتٍ واسعة مع علماء ومؤرّخي عصره ممَّن يُعْنَوْن بالأخبار والوفيات، فيكتبون إليه ما يجري في بلدانهم من حوادث، وتراجم الوفيات عندهم، وبين الوثائق الرسمية ومحاضر القضاة والأمراء وكُتاب الدواوين التي يطّلع على نصوصها، وبين الإجازات العلمية التي يقف عليها وهي تضبط أسماء الأعلام وأنسابهم وتواريخ وفياتهم، ويأتي والده في مقدّمه مصادره. ولأهمية هذا الكتاب قام بتحقيقه "عمر عبد السلام" تدمري مستعيناً بنسخة مصورة من مخطوط "المقتني" للبرزالي في متحف "طوب قبو" ونسخة مصورة عن جزء "البرزالي" من مجمع اللغة العربية بدمشق، ونسخة مصورة من معجم شيوخ الدمياطي عن مخطوط المكتبة الوطنية بتونس وهو من مصادر "البرزالي" الأساسية وقطعة من "تاريخ البرزالي" محفوظة في مكتبة جامعة ليدن بهولنده.
