عبد السلام هارون أحد أشهر محققي التراث العربي في القرن العشرين.
المولد والنشأة
ولد عبد السلام هارون في مدينة الإسكندرية في (25 ذي الحجة 1326 هـ، 18 يناير 1909م) ونشأ في بيت كريم من بيوت العلم، فجده لأبيه هو الشيخ هارون بن عبد الرازق عضو جماعة كبار العلماء، وأبوه هو الشيخ محمد بن هارون كان يتولى عند وفاته منصب رئيس التفتيش الشرعي في وزارة الحقانية (العدل)، وعمه هو الشيخ أحمد بن هارون الذي يرجع إليه الفضل في إصلاح المحاكم الشرعية ووضع لوائحها، أما جده لأمه فهو الشيخ محمود بن رضوان الجزيري عضو المحكمة العليا.
عني أبوه بتربيته وتعليمه، فحفظ القرآن الكريم وتعلم مبادئ القراءة والكتابة، والتحق بالأزهر سنة (1340 هـ = 1921م) حيث درس العلوم الدينية والعربية، ثم التحق في سنة (1343 هـ = 1924م) بتجهيزية دار العلوم بعد اجتيازه مسابقة للالتحاق بها، وكانت هذه التجهيزية تعد الطلبة للالتحاق بمدرسة دار العلوم، وحصل منها على شهادة البكالوريا سنة (1347 هـ = 1928م) ثم أتم دراسته بدار العلوم العليا، وتخرج فيها سنة (1351 هـ = 1945م).
الوظائف العلمية
بعد تخرجه عمل مدرسًا بالتعليم الابتدائي، ثم عُيّن في سنة (1365 هـ = 1945م) مدرسًا بكلية الآداب بجامعة الإسكندرية، وهذه هي المرة الوحيدة في تاريخ الجامعات التي ينتقل فيها مدرس من التعليم الابتدائي إلى السلك الجامعي، بعد أن ذاعت شهرته في تحقيق التراث، ثم عُيّن في سنة (1370 هـ = 1950م) أستاذًا مساعدًا بكلية دار العلوم، ثم أصبح أستاذًا ورئيسًا لقسم النحو بها سنة (1379 هـ = 1959م) ثم دعي مع نخبة من الأساتذة المصريين في سنة (1386 هـ = 1966م) لإنشاء جامعة الكويت، وتولى هو رئاسة قسم اللغة العربية وقسم الدراسات العليا حتى سنة (1394 هـ = 1975م)، وفي أثناء ذلك اختير عضوًا بمجمع اللغة العربية بالقاهرة سنة (1389 هـ= 1969م).

نزلَ القرآنُ الكريمُ والمخاطَبون بِهِ قومٌ عَرَب، أولو بيانٍ فاضلٍ، وفهمٍ بارع، أنزلهُ جلّ ذكره بلسانهم، وَصِيغَة كَلَامهم الَّذِي نشئوا عَلَيْهِ، وجُبِلوا على النُّطْق بِهِ، فتدَرّبوا بِهِ يعْرفُونَ وُجُوه خطابه، ويفهمون فنون نظامه، وَلَا يَحْتَاجُونَ إِلَى تعلُّم مشكله وغريب أَلْفَاظه، حاجةَ المولدين الناشئين فِيمَن لَا يعلم لسانَ الْعَرَب حَتَّى يعلَّمَه، وَلَا يفهم ضروبه وَأَمْثَاله، وطرقه وأساليبه، حتّى يفَهَّمَها.
