مُراد فَرَج: مُحَامٍ وأَدِيبٌ مِصْرِي، ويُعَدُّ واحِدًا مِن أَشْهَرِ كُتَّابِ اليَهودِ في القرْنِ التاسِعَ عَشَر، ولهُ العَدِيدُ مِنَ المَراجِعِ الهامَّةِ في القَانونِ والأَحْكامِ الشَّرْعِيةِ الَّتي تَخُصُّ طائِفةَ اليَهودِ القَرَّائِين، وهذِهِ المَراجِعُ تَحْوِي بَيْنَ دَفَّتَيْها العَدِيدَ مِنَ الأَحْكامِ الَّتي تَتعلَّقُ بالدِّينِ والتَّوْراةِ والمَسائلِ الشَّرْعيَّةِ والشَّخْصيَّة.
وُلِدَ «مراد فرج يوسف ليشع» فِي «القاهرةِ» عامَ ١٨٦٧م، وهوَ مِن طائِفةِ اليَهودِ القَرَّائِين، عاشَتْ أُسْرتُه في مِصْرَ مُنذُ زَمَنٍ بَعِيد. تَلَقَّى تَعْليمَهُ الأوَّلِيَّ في القاهِرة، لكنَّهُ لَمْ يُكمِلْ دِراسَتَهُ بَعْدَ أنْ حَصَلَ عَلى الشَّهادةِ الِابْتِدائيَّة. كانَ مُحِبًّا لِلْقِراءَةِ والِاطِّلاع؛ حيْثُ قرَأَ العَدِيدَ مِنَ الكُتُب، سَواءٌ باللُّغَةِ العَرَبِيةِ أوِ العِبْرِيَّة. وفي عامِ ١٨٩٠م تَزَوَّجَ «تطلى يهودا حاييم كوهين» ورُزِقَ مِنْها ولَدًا وَحِيدًا.
عَمِلَ في بِدايةِ حَياتِهِ مُساعِدَ مُحامٍ في مَكاتِبِ المُحامِينَ وفِي المَحاكِم، فدَرَسَ القَضَايا دِراسةً وافِية، وكانَ يَستخلِصُ مِنْها العديدَ مِنَ النِّقاطِ المُهمَّةِ ويُلفِتُ إلَيْها نظَرَ المُحامِينَ لإِضافتِها فِي مُذكِّراتِهِم، فشَجَّعَهُ هؤلاءِ عَلَى ضَرُورةِ دِراسةِ القَانُون، وبَعدَ ذلِكَ أصْبَحَ مُحامِيًا وقامَ الخِديوِي «عبَّاس حلمي الثاني» بتَعْيينِه في الخاصَّةِ المَلَكيَّةِ ومَنَحَه رُتْبةَ البَكَويَّة، لكِنْ بَعْدَ انْتِهاءِ الحَربِ العالَميَّةِ الأُولى؛ استَقالَ مِن مَنصِبِه وفتَحَ مَكْتبًا خاصًّا لهُ وظلَّ بهِ حتَّى عامِ ١٩٣٢م، وبعْدَها تَفرَّغَ لِأَنْشطتِه الأَدَبيَّة. وبجانِبِ المُحَاماة، وَجَّهَ مراد فرج جُلَّ عِنايتِه إِلَى الطائِفةِ اليَهودِيَّة؛ حيْثُ انتُخِبَ عُضْوًا في المِلِّيةِ عامَ ١٩٠١م لإِعْدادِ أوَّلِ لائِحةٍ داخِليَّةٍ لطائِفةِ اليَهودِ القَرَّائِين، كَما كانَ رَئِيسًا للمَجْلسِ المِلِّيِّ لمدَّةِ ثَلاثينَ عامًا، كَذِلكَ أنْشَأَ العَدِيدَ مِنَ الصُّحُفِ والمَجلَّات؛ مِنْها مَجلَّةُ «لَطائِف اليَهودِ القَرَّائِينَ بمِصْر»، ومَجلَّةُ «التَّهذِيب» عامَ ١٩٠١م، ومَجلَّةُ «الاتِّحاد» عامَ ١٩٢٤م، ومَجلَّةُ «الكَلِيم» عامَ ١٩٤٤م، كما ساهَمَ في تَحرِيرِ جَرِيدةِ «الشَّمْس» لأَبْناءِ طائِفةِ اليَهودِ الرَّبَّانيِّين.
نَشَرَ مراد فرج العَدِيدَ مِنَ الأَشْعارِ والمَقالاتِ الفَلْسفيَّةِ والفِكْريَّةِ والاجْتِماعيَّةِ في العَدِيدِ مِنَ الصُّحُفِ والمَجلَّاتِ المِصْريَّة؛ مِنْها جَرِيدةُ «الجَرِيدة»، و«المُؤَيد»، هَذا فَضْلًا عَن مُؤلَّفاتِهِ المُهمَّةِ في الأدَبِ والشِّعْرِ ومُقارَنةِ الأَدْيانِ والتارِيخ، نَذكُرُ مِنْها: «دِيوان مُراد»، و«القُدْسِيَّات»، و«الشُّعَراء اليَهُود والعَرَب»، و«تَفسِير التَّوْراة»، و«اليَهُودِي معْنًى وعَقِيدة»، و«اليَهُوديَّة». تُوُفِّيَ مُراد فَرَج في القاهِرةِ عامَ ١٩٥٦م.
