• حصل على البكالوريوس من كلية التجارة بجامعة الملك سعود بالرياض عام 1963.
• تلقى تعليمه العالي في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية فحصل على شهادة الماجستير في الإدارة من جامعة منيسوتا عام 1966، ثم حصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في الإدارة العامة من الجامعة الأمريكية بواشنطن في مطلع عام 1970.
• تدرج في السلك الأكاديمي فحصل على درجة أستاذ عام 1979.
• عمل عميداً لكلية التجارة , وكلية العلوم الاجتماعية , وكلية الدراسات العليا، مستشار في عدة هيئات علمية, وعضو في هيئة تحرير المجلة العربية للإدارة, ومجلة العلوم الاجتماعية.
• له العديد من المؤلفات والدواوين الشعرية.

يعرف الاقتصاد العالمي العديد من المتغيرات التي قد تنعكس سلباً أو إيجاباً على أدائه ففى القرن السادس عشر لم يكن للدول أن تتدخل في التجارة الدولية فتفرض حواجز مباشرة تزايدت بصورة تكاد توصف فيها بالحرب التجارية خلال الفترة التي سبقت الحرب العالمية الثانية إذ كان هناك أكثر من 200 نوع من القيود والعوائق مما أدى إلى حدوث انكماش اقتصادي في أغلب بقاع العالم وخلق مناخ سلبي أمام التبادل التجاري الدولي.
