الكتاب يتضمن ستة هوامش تتكامل فيما بينها- في تقديري- لإعداد المخرج المسرحي، بدءا من اللحظة التي يعيش فيه إنسانا تراوده موهبته بهاجس أن يكون مخرجا، إنتهاء باللحظات الخلاقة التي يصوغ فيها عالمه علي خشبة المسرح، ويحرك الممثلين. ففي الهامش الأول أسس تكوينه كإنسان ينبغي أن يكون بالغ الإنتباه إلي مجتمعه الذي يبني وعيه بالدنيا، ثم يتجه إليه في النهاية بخطابه كما يتجسد في عمله المسرحي. وأقدم في الهامش الثاني مقترحا بتحليل الشخصية الدرامية، وفق مفهوم دوائر الوجود الذي يدمج بين علم النفس والاجتماع، وأربطه بالعوامل التي تؤثر علي تكوين الشخصية في الحياة والواقع المعاش. وفي الهامش الثالث، رأيت أن أكشف له عن الطوابق التي تبني المعمار الدرامي، ووظيفة كل طبقة أو مرحلة فيه، وأين يؤسس الكتاب رؤيته وعلاقة هذه الرؤية بتصميم النهاية الدرامية وبالجمهور معا. وفي الهامش الرابع طرحت قضية «التفسير»، وأهميتها، وكيف يتوصل إليه، والعوامل التي تؤثر فيه. أما الهامش الخامس فيتناول قضية «الدراماتورج» الشائكة، وعلاقتها بتهيئة «نسخة الإخراج»، وهو ما اضطرني إلي ضم بحث علمي وثيق الصلة به، في إطار طرح أسبابي لاعتبار القضية شائكة. وفي الهامش السادس والأخير، كان المخرج يقف علي خشبة المسرح، ويدمج كل الهوامش السابقة في صياغة الحركة المسرحية، لا بمعزل عنها، بما يوضح جمالياتها ومحاورها، ودورها في خلق نسيج الصورة، والإيقاع السمعي/البصري للعرض جزئيا وكليا.
