لقد عني الإسلام بالأسرة التي هي أساس ونواة المجتمع ومادته الأولى، لذا اهتم بها ووضع لها الجوانب التي تحافظ عليها وأبان مكانتها في بناء المجتمع وحث على بناء الأسرة ودعا الناس أن يعيشوا في ظلالها؛إذ تكون الأسرة هي الصورة الصحيحة والحياة المطمئنة التي تلبي رغائب الإنسان وتفي بحاجات وجوده قال الله تعالى:{وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلاً مِّن قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لـَهُمْ أَزْوَاجاً وَذُرِّيَّة وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِيَ بِآيَةٍ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِ الله لِكُلِّ أَجَلٍ كِتَاب} (سورة الرعد: 38)ومن خلال نصوص القرآن الكريم تتضح أن (الزوجية) هي طبيعة المخلوقات في الكون، ولقد خلق الله سبحانه وتعالى آدم عليه السلام ثم خلق منه حواء ليبدأ الازدواج من بدء الكون.
