الفلسفة القارية مفهومٌ محل جدلٍ يأخذنا إلى قلب هوية الفلسفة وعلاقتها بالأمور محل الاهتمام العام وتلك المتعلقة بالحياة الشخصية. ويسعى هذا الكتاب من سلسلة «مقدمة قصيرة جدًّا» إلى الإجابة عن السؤال التالي: «ما الفلسفة القارية؟» من خلال سرد قصةٍ تبدأ بِكانط قبل مائتَيْ سنة، وتتضمَّن مناقشاتٍ حول فلاسفةٍ كبارٍ أمثال نيتشه وهوسرل وهايدجر. وفي صميم الكتاب دعوةٌ لوضع الفلسفة في مركز الحياة الثقافية؛ ومن ثَمَّ إحياء تعريفها القديم بأنها «حب الحكمة» الذي يجعل الحياة تستحق العيش.
