هدفت هذه الدراسة لإلقاء الضوء على التوزيع الجغرافي للمراكز التجارية المغلقة كظاهرة برزت حديثا في مدينة جدة، بالمملكة العربية السعودية، وقد اهتمت الدراسة بدراسة نمط التوزيع الجغرافي للمراكز التجارية، عبر أقسام المدينة الأربعة، كما اهتمت بدراسة سلوك المستهلكين الذين يرتادون هذه المراكز كجزء من خدمات الأنشطة الحضرية المرتبطة بالمكان، كما اهتمت الدراسة أيضا بالكشف عن مدى كفاءة التوزيع الجغرافي لهذه المراكز، وما تأثير هذا التوزيع على مختلف الأنشطة الحضرية الأخرى في المدينة، مثل الاختناقات المرورية، وسهولة انتقال السكان إلى هذه المراكز، كما اهتمت الدراسة بتأثير هذا التوزيع على التطور المستقبلي لأعداد المراكز التجارية في المدينة.
