هدف المقال إلى عرض كتاب بعنوان " دائرة المعارف السياسية" للمؤلف " أ. د محمد مدحت جابر عبد الجليل". وأظهر المقال أن المؤلف يوضح في الكتاب نهجه البيئي المتعدد غير المرتبط بتخصص منفرد، ولكن بالعديد من التخصصات ذات الخلفية السياسية، كما يمزج فيه الجغرافيا بالتاريخ، والأصالة بالمعاصرة، والحضارة بالحداثة. كما أوضح أن المؤلف يركز في كتابه على النظريات في الجغرافيا السياسية، ومنها نظرية "هالفورد ماكندر" المعروفة بقلب العالم، وغيرها من النظريات التي كان لها دور في الأحداث التي مهدت للحربين العالميتين الأولى والثانية، وما تلاها في زمن الحرب الباردة، وبروز ما سمي بالكتلتين الشرقية والغربية أو "النظام الشيوعي" و"النظام الرأسمالي". وأشار المقال إلى أن الموسوعة تحتوي على عدد من الخرائط التوضيحية التي تعالج المصطلحات، والمختارة من كثير من المراجع والمعاجم العالمية، كما زيل المؤلف الموسوعة ببليوغرافيا لعدد من المراجع العربية وغير العربية التي استفاد منها المؤلف في اختيار مواد موسوعته. واختتم المقال بأن الموسوعة في حد ذاتها تمثل فكراً "جيوبوليتيكياً" وإطلالة على موضوع من الموضوعات التي تجذب القراء بما تضفيه لهم من معرفة موضوعات تمس واقع الحياة السياسية بمشكلاتها وموائماتها، ويضيف للمكتبة العربية مرجعاً يحتاجه كل من يبحث في الجغرافيا السياسية والمشكلات الدولية. كُتب هذا المستخلص من قِبل دار المنظومة 2018
