عبد القادر قارة، مجاهد من مواليد 16 فيفري 1934 ببرج بونعامة (الونشريس)، يتطرّق في هذا الكتاب إلى المراحل التاريخية المختلفة التي مرت بها القاعدة الشرقية منذ اندلاع الثورة في الفترة من 1 نوفمبر 1954 إلى 20 جانفي 1956، والتي تمثل قلب الثورة وحلقتها المتينة، إضافة إلى كونها الجسر الاستراتيجي الذي تم من خلاله نقل المعدات العسكرية والذخيرة وجميع احتياجات الإمداد إلى ولايات المناطق الداخلية الثانية والثالثة والرابعة. لقد كانت القاعدة الشرقية أرض العمليات العسكرية الكبرى والمعارك، في ضوء التضحيات العظيمة التي قدمها جيش التحرير الوطني أثناء عمليات مرور الأسلحة إلى الداخل. والمؤلف، المجاهد الذي قاد عدة معارك في الشرق الجزائري، قد وصف بعناية بعض العمليات العسكرية غير المتكافئة التي قام بها خلال مساره في الجبهة، في مناطق مختلفة وعلى رأس فيالق ووحدات كبرى. اعتنى عبد القادر قارة بإضفاء الحيوية على السياق السردي للأحداث التي شارك فيها، وهذا بهدف إعلام الأجيال الحالية والمستقبلية بالتضحيات الحقيقية التي قام بها أسلافهم، ودعوتهم إلى أخذها كمراجع ونماذج في الدفاع عن بلادهم بكل إمكاناتهم المادية والمعنوية.
