يتناول الكتاب ملامح الكاريكاتير السياسي منذ آواخر القرن التاسع عشر وحتى ثورة 25 يناير 2011, بدءاً من ثورة عرابي ضد الظلم والاستبداد، ومروراً بتصاعد المقاومة الشعبية والحركات الوطنية ضد الاحتلال البريطاني والتي نجحت في إشعال ثورة 1919، ثم فترة الثلاثينيات التي شهدت مظاهرات ضد إلغاء دستور 23، ثم فترة الأربعينيات التي شهدت المزيد من سياسات الاحتلال القمعية والتي كان على رأسها حادثة 4 فبراير، وفترة الخمسينيات التي شهدت ثورة 1952 التي بها أسدل الستار عن 148 عاماً من حكم سلالة محمد علي، ثم فترة حكم محمد نجيب القصيرة جداً وصعود نجم جمال عبد الناصر الذي شهد عهده اشتعال روح الانتماء إلى الوطن الأكبر الوطن العربي تحت دعوى القومية العربية، وقرار تأميم قناة السويس الذي أسفر عن عدوان 1956، وقرار غلق مضيق تيران أمام السفن الاسرائيلية الذي أسفر عن نكسة 1967.
