سيرة ذاتية كتبها المرحوم أبو الفضل البرقعي -أحد أعمدة وأعلام المحاربين لخرافات الشيعة وبدعهم في إيران المعاصرة - عن حياته. تنبع أهمية الكتاب الحالي من روايته لتاريخ التحولات السياسية - الدينية في إيران المعاصرة في عهد الحكم البهلوي (رضا شاه ومحمد رضا شاه) وإلى ما بعد الثورة الإيرانية وحتى سنة 1414 هـ (1992 م)، ويحلل ويشرح دور ومواقف علماء الدين الشيعة في الحوادث المختلفة التي عرضت للمجتمع الإيراني ويميط اللثام عن حقائق مجهولة لكثير من القراء؛ بناءً على ذلك، فإن كتاب «سوانح الأيام» إضافة إلى كونه شرحاً شخصياً لحياة العلامة البرقعي، يبين كثيرًا من الوقائع التاريخية المكتومة ويكشف النقاب عن حقيقة الحكومة المتظاهرة بالإسلام في إيران. بعد أن يُعَرِّفَ المؤلِّفُ بِنَسَبِهِ وأُسْرَتِهِ، يذكر نبذة عن مرحلة طفولته ودراسته الابتدائية ثم يشرح دراساته الحوزوية. ويواصل كلامه ببيان نشاطاته السياسية والاجتماعية في مرحلة الشباب ويعرفنا بأساتذته في الحوزة ويذكر نصوص إجازات رواية الحديث التي نالها منهم. ومن أقسام الكتاب المهمة بيان لقاءات البرقعي وحواراته مع كثير من علماء الشيعة المرموقين في إيران ومكاتباته مع كثير منهم - بما في ذلك الخميني والخامنئي - التي غطت جزءًا كبيرًا من الكتاب، في حين تغطي الفصول الأخيرة منه طريقة تعامل الحكومة الإيرانية مع المؤلف وبيان الأذى الذي تعرض له على أيدي رجال الحكم وحوادث السجن والاغتيال الفاشل التي تعرض لها.
