الكتاب عبارة عن مجموعة قصصية حياة الإنسان مليئة بالتجارب والعبر، ولكل إنسان مدرسته الخاصة في طريقة تعامله اليومي، وكذلك تقبله لنتائج تجاربه في شتى دروب الحياة؛ فكل إنسان يسقط تجاربه ومكتسباته الحياتية على فهمه للأمور وتقبله للآخر. نرى رجالًا ونساءً قدموا عصارة جهدهم من أجل الرقي بالمجتمعات، وآخرين تفننوا في تدمير ما بناه غيرهم، بقصد كان أو بغير ذلك، وليس من سعى لنفسه كمن سعى لمجتمعه؛ فالفرد الصالح له إسهاماته في بناء مجتمعه، أما دون ذلك فقد يكون أنانيًا، ولا يشترط بالضرورة أن تكون الإسهامات كبيرة، فربما يكون تثقيف الشخص لنفسه نوع من الإسهام الذي يحمي المجتمع من جهله، وربما محو أكذوبة مضللة قد تفسد أجيالًا تعد نوعًا آخر من الإسهامات المستنيرة، وربما قبول الاختلاف هو نوع ثالث من النهوض بالمجتمع. وفي النهاية الكل يسهم بدرجاتٍ متفاوتة لرفعة مجتمعه؛ فالحياة مدرسة لا يمكن بالضرورة أن تجتازها بامتياز، فربما الحصول على درجة جيد تجعل الأمور أكثر تقبلا
