جوارح الإنسان سبع هي: اللسان، والسمع، والبصر، واليدان، والرجلان، والبطن، والفرج، وجعلت مستقر الشهوة في البطن، فإن اشتهى الكلام أو غيره خرج السلطان تلك الشهوة إلى الصدر ثم إلى القلب، والقلب أمير على هذه الجوارج، فإذا غلب سلطان الشهوة حلاوتها ولذتها على القلب تحير الذهن عن التدبير، وخمد نور العلم في الصدر، فظهرت المعصية على الجوارح؛ وإذا غلب سلطان المعرفة لذتها وحلاوتها احتد الذهن، واستنار العلم، وانتشر وأشرق، وقوي القلب، فقام منتصباً متوجهاً بعين فؤادة إلى الله تعالى، وجاء المدد والعطاء، وظهرت العزيمة على ترك المعصية العارضة
