يُعنى البحثُ بيان بعض المسائل النّحو يّة الّتي تفرّد فيها ابن هشام عن مذهبي: البصريّين والكوفيّين في كتاب مغني اللّبيب، والكشف عن التأثّر الحاصل بالمذاهب الأخرى، وهل اختطّ ابن هشام لنفسه منهجًا نحويًّا؟ أم كان تبعًا للمذاهب الأخرى؟ وسيحاولُ البحث الإجابة عن كثير من الأسئلة؛ منها: أ- هل كان ابن هشام بصريًا أم كوفيًّا في آرائه؟ ب- ما أبرز الآراء الّتي انتهجها لِنفسه؟ اعتمد الباحث من المناهج ما يأتي: )أ(- المنهج الاستقرائيّ ال تّحليليّ . )ب(-المنهج الوصفيّ ال تّأصيليّ . )ج(- المنهج الإحصائيّ . استنتج البحثُ أنّ ابن هشام لم يكن تابعًا لمدرسة نحويّة بعينها، وإن غلبت عليه النّزعة البصريّة، وكذلك اشتقّ لنفسه آراء خاصّة، وغيرها من النّتائج.
