• ولد بمدينة بنغازي سنة 1929 .
• تعلّم القراءة والكتابة وحفظ ما تيسر من القرآن الكريم في جامع الزاوية المدنية المعروف بمنطقة أخريبيش .
• التحق بالمدرسة الإيطالية العربية ودرس بها حتى قيام الحرب العالمية الثانية وانقطاع الدراسة بها نهائياً .
• درس اللغة العربية إلى جانب اللغة الإنجليزية وذلك في الفصول المسائية التي نظمتها رابطة الشباب الليبـي في الأربعينيات من القرن الماضي .
الحياة العمليــة • عَمـِل خطاطاً في مجمع الأشغال العامة لمدة ثماني سنوات بدايةً من عام 1946 .
• عمل موظفاً بمحكمة الاستئناف لولاية برقة لمدة ثلاث سنوات بدايةً من عام 1956 .
• عمل موظفاً بالإدارة العامة للجامعة الليبية لمدة أربعة عشر عاماً بدايةً من عام 1959 .
• عمل موظفاً بأمانة التعليم لمدة ست عشرة سنة بدايةً من عام 1973 .
النشاط العــام • انخرط في الحركة العمالية سنة 1950 وأسس مع زملائه في مجمع الأشغال العامة نقابة النجارين والزواقين التي أصبح أميناً لها في عام 1952 .
• أسس ركن العمال في صحيفة ( الزمان ) سنة 1954 الذي لم يلبث أن أوقفته حكومة الولاية آنذاك ، ثم ترك الحركة العمالية بسبب توجهه إلى العمل الوظيفي .
النشاط الثقافي • بدأ كتابة القصة القصيرة والمقالة سنة 1953 ونشر ثماني عشرة قصة قصيرة إلى جانب بعض المقالات في كل من الصحف التالية : طرابلس الغرب ـ برقة الجديدة ـ الزمان ـ العمل ـ الرقيب، وفي كل من المجلاّت التالية : مجلة إذاعة طرابلس الغرب ـ مجلة الضياء ـ مجلة النور ـ مجلة الرواد .
• له مجموعتان من القصص القصيرة .
• قام بترجمة بعض القصص القصيرة من اللغتين الإيطالية والإنجليزية ولم ينشر منها إلا واحدة في مجلة ( هنا طرابلس الغرب ) سنة 1956 .
• ساهم في تحرير مجلة ( النور ) منذ صدورها وحتى احتجابها سنة 1957 .
• اشترك في لجنة التحكيم لمسابقة القصة القصيرة التي نظمتها جريدة ( الرقيب ) سنة 1961.
• شارك في المؤتمر الأول للأدباء والكتاب الليبيين سنة 1968 .
• شارك في ملتقى القصاصين المغاربة سنة 1968 في تونس
