هذا "الألبوم" يضم في صفحاته صورا ملتقطة لبعض مشاهد مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة، في أواخر سنة حكم السلطان عبد الحميد الثاني، وهي الصور الأولى التي عرفتها الدولة العثمانية. وقد لعبت الصور دوراً مهماً فيما يسمى بـ "حرب الصور" فكان السلطان يأمر بتصوير مشاهد من دولته ومن رجالاته وهم في أحسن أحولهم وإرسالها إلى الخارج لكي يظهر الدولة بمظهر القوة والعافية وليبدد مقالة الدول الأوربية عن الدولة العثمانية ووصفها بـ "الرجل المريض".
