إن كتاب " إحكام الأحكام " للإمام العلامة محمد بن علي بن وهب المعروف بابن دقيق العيد كتاب جليل يعتبر أحسن ما يوجد اليوم من شروح كتاب عمدة الأحكام للإمام الحافظ عبدالغني بن عبدالواحد الجماعيلي، لكنه لما فيه من تحقيقات أصولية ، وتدقيقات يسلك ابن دقيق العيد فيها مسلك الترجيح تارة وتارة مسلك التوقف لتكافأ الأدلة عنده . صار صعباً على طلبة العلم الذي كان ضمن مقرراتهم ، فلهذا اعتنيت غاية الاعتناء بترتيبه على الوضع الذي نرى أنه أقرب وأسهل وأضفنا إليه مما يتعلق ببيان معاني الكلمات وبيان الأحكام ما لابد منه مما جمعناه من كتاب الإمام الحافظ ابن حجر " فتح الباري " وغيره .
