محمد فؤاد جلال: أحدُ أبرزِ روَّاد التربية الحديثة في مصر، وهو مِن أعلام العرب في علم النفس، وصاحِبُ إسهاماتٍ كبيرة في تعميقِ مفاهيم القومية العربية والتضامُن الآسيوي والأفريقي.
وُلِد محمد فؤاد جلال في «قلين» بكفر الشيخ عامَ ١٩٠٨م، وهناك تعلَّمَ مبادئَ القراءة والكتابة، ثم أتمَّ تعليمَه في المرحلتَيْن الابتدائية والثانوية بمحافظة أسيوط، وبعدهما الْتَحقَ بمدرسة «المعلمين العليا» وتخرَّجَ فيها عامَ ١٩٢٩م. بدأ مشوارَه الوظيفي مُعِيدًا ثم مدرسًا مساعدًا ﺑ «معهد التربية العالي للمعلمين» حتى عام ١٩٣٢م (تحوَّلَ اسمُه فيما بعدُ إلى «المعهد العالي للمعلمين»، ثم إلى «كلية العلوم» عامَ ١٩٥٠م)، ثم عمل مدرسًا للعلوم في مدرسة الخديوي إسماعيل الثانوية حتى عام ١٩٣٧م. وقد حصل على بعثةٍ لدراسة علم النفس في إنجلترا؛ حيث نالَ دبلوم علم النفس مع مرتبة الشرف عامَ ١٩٤٠م. وبعدما رجع مِن البعثة عاوَدَ التدريس ﺑ «معهد التربية العالي للمعلمين» وظلَّ به حتى عُيِّن رئيسًا لقسم التربية وعلم النفس، كما عمل أستاذًا لعلم النفس في كلية البنات. وقد شغل العديد من الوظائف، منها: وزير الثقافة والإرشاد القومي، ووكيل مجلس الأمة، وسفير مصري (بعدة دول)، كما ترأَّسَ مؤتمرَ الخِرِّيجين العرب، ومؤتمرَ التضامُن الآسيوي الأفريقي.
كان للراحِل منهجٌ مميَّزٌ في التعليم؛ فقد كان يُؤمِن بأنَّ هناك علاقةً تفاعُليةً بين الأضلاع الأربعة «التربية، البيئة، المدرسة، المجتمع»؛ إذ إنَّ التربية تَنبع مِن البيئة أولًا، وتنعكس على التعليم الذي يُساهِم في تقدُّمِ المجتمع وإصلاحِه وتطويرِه. كما ابتكَرَ أساليبَ دراسيةً جديدة منها الدراسة الميدانية، وكان أولَ مَن نادَى بتدريس العلوم العامة بالمدارس المصرية وطبَّقَه. كما اهتمَّ بالتعليم الريفي فأنشأ مدارس المعلمين الريفية وإعداد القادة الريفيِّين.
كَتبَ مئاتِ البحوث والمقالات، ويُعدُّ كتابا «مبادئ التحليل النفسي» و«اتجاهات في التربية الحديثة» من أهم كُتبِه، وقد استمرَّ عطاؤه حتى وافَتْه المنية عامَ ١٩٦٢م.
