أريد في هذا البحث تسليط الضوء على شخصية الشيخ طاهر الجزائري, وعلى واحد من أعماله المهمة, وهي حلقة دمشق الكبرى, في محاولة لبيان أهمية هذا العمل, وأهم نتائجه سواء على المستوى الفردي للمشاركين فيها, أم على مستوى المجتمع في ذلك الوقت. وسأبدأ بتذكير مختصر بسيرة الشيخ طاهر, ثم سأتحدث عن أفكاره السياسية والاجتماعية لأستطيع بعدها القيام بعرض تفصيلي لحلقة دمشق الكبرى: نشأتها, أهدافها, أعمالها, المشاركون فيها, تأثيرها ونتائجها. وفي النهاية سأقدم تقييماً لهذه الحلقة وما يمكن أن نستفيده من الدراسة.
