هو أحد كتب الحديث عند أهل السنة والجماعة، والذي جمعه الحافظ أبو بكر ابن ابي شيبة. ويعد هذا الكتاب من الكتب الهامة التي يعول عليها في معرفة الأحاديث والآثار عندهم.وقد رتب المؤلف هذا الكتاب على طريقة السنن، حيث رتب الأحاديث والآثار على الأبواب الفقهية المختلفة؛ فبدأ بـ"كتاب الطهارات" وانتهى بـ"كتاب الجمل وصفين والخوارج".الكتاب في جملته يحتوي على 37251 نصاً حديثياً مسنداً، منها ما هو مرفوع وما هو موقوف وما هو مقطوع، ولم يشترط المصنف فيها الصحة ، وحرص على جمع أكبر قدر من النصوص التي تندرج تحت عنوان الباب الفقهي المذكور ( بصرف النظر عن صحة هذه النصوص أو ضعفها )[بحاجة لمصدر] إلا أنه استبعد ما رآه موضوعاً بيّن الوضع.للكتاب عدة طبعات؛ حيث طبعته "الدار السلفية الهندية القديمة"، وكذلك "دار القبلة". كما حققه الأستاذ محمد عوامة. كذلك صدر المصنف بتحقيق أ.د.سعد بن ناصر الشثري من دار كنوز اشبيليا للنشر والتوزيع
