الكتاب عبارة عن رسالة ماجستير بعنوان: [أثر آراء الخوارج في الفكر الإسلامي المعاصر]، وقد دفع المؤلف إلى اختيار هذا الموضوع جملة من الأسباب منها ما يلي:-أولا: أن الأمة الإسلامية مرت في عصرها الحاضر - وخصوصا في العقدين الأخيرين بجملة من الأحداث والفتن أثرت على مسارها، وأعاقت حركتها، وعرضتها لفتن عديدة، كان من الممكن أن تتجنـب الأمة ذلك كله بأن تتبع مسار تاريخها الفكري، لأن فتن العصر الحاضر هي صورة متكررة لفتن العهد الأول، والقرآن الكريم حين يعرض آراء مخالفة ويرد عليها فإنما يتوجه الحديث إلى المسلمين جميعا عبر امتداد الزمان، وكما يقول ولي الله الدهلوي: \لا ينبغي أن يظن عند تلاوة القرآن الكريم أن جداله ومحاجته كانا مع أناس قد انتهوا وانقضوا، كلا، بل إنه بحكم ما جاء في الحديث: «لتتبعن سنن من كان قبلكم»( )، ليست هناك من فتنة في عهد الرسالة صلى الله على صاحبها وسلم إلا ولها نماذج وأمثلة في عصرنا هذا\( ).ثانياً: أن أحدا لم يتطرق - فيما أحسب - إلى تأثر الفكر الإسلامي المعاصر بآراء الخوارج جملة، وذلك بأن تدرس آراؤهم، ويتم إسقاطها على الواقع المعاصر، ولم يتعد ما كُتب في هذا الموضوع أن يكون جزئيات، كتأثر فكر \الحاكمية\ المعاصر بشعار الخوارج \لا حكم إلا لله\، أو تأثر فتة التكفير في العصر الحديث بنشأته عند الخوارج - كما سأعرض في حديثي بإذن الله تعالى.
