• حصل على البكالوريوس من كلية التجارة بجامعة الملك سعود بالرياض عام 1963.
• تلقى تعليمه العالي في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية فحصل على شهادة الماجستير في الإدارة من جامعة منيسوتا عام 1966، ثم حصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في الإدارة العامة من الجامعة الأمريكية بواشنطن في مطلع عام 1970.
• تدرج في السلك الأكاديمي فحصل على درجة أستاذ عام 1979.
• عمل عميداً لكلية التجارة , وكلية العلوم الاجتماعية , وكلية الدراسات العليا، مستشار في عدة هيئات علمية, وعضو في هيئة تحرير المجلة العربية للإدارة, ومجلة العلوم الاجتماعية.
• له العديد من المؤلفات والدواوين الشعرية.

ولأنه فرض على كل مسلم أن يعرف أمور دينه معرفة صحيحة فلربما أكون مصلياً مزكياً حاجاً ،ولكنى لست بمسلم أو مسلم مقصر ذهب به تقصيره وعدم فهمه إلى الخروج من الدين ، أو متشدداً ذهب به تشدده ذات المذهب فكلا طرفى القصد ذميم ، وربما أكون مسلماً ولكن يوجد نص فى القلب منه شئ من الشك ،ويكون هذا الشك إرتداداً عن الدين وأشياء كثيرة دفعتنى إلى محاولة معرفة حدود الإسلام ،وحدود الكفر فلما اشتدت بى الرغبة فى الحصول على معرفة قاطعة عن الحدود التى تفصل بين الكفر والإيمان أخذت معولى ،وشمرت عن ساعدى واجتهدت فى البحث فى هذا الموضوع فأسرتنى كتابات الشيخ الجليل أحمد بن تيمية ، وكلام الشيخ عز الدين بن عبد السلام وبعض تفسيرات الشيخ الشعراوى ، والشيخ محمد الغزالى وكثيرين وقع كلامهم فى نفسى على ذات الموقع الذى كنت أهوى أن يقع عليه
