عماد عبد السلام رؤوف (بغداد 1948-) مؤرخ ومحقق و مفكر عراقي.
ولادته ونشأته
ولد عماد عبد السلام رؤوف العطار في بغداد سنة 1367هـ/1948م، من عائلة موصلية الأصل عباسية النسب وتلقى علومه الأولية فيها.
دراسته
دخل كلية الآداب في قسم التاريخ وتخرج فيها عام 1970م. ثم واصل دراسته العليا في جامعة القاهرة ونال شهادة الماجستير في التاريخ الحديث عام 1973م، عن رسالته (ولاية الموصل في العهد الجليلي 1749-1834). ونال شهادة الدكتوراه عام 1976م في الجامعة ذاتها عن رسالته (الحياة الاجتماعية في العراق في عهد المماليك 1750-1831).

هذه أربع سير لشخصيات نابهة من كردستان برزت في العصر العثماني، وهي تتنوع في مجالاتها بين الحكم والبناء والعلم والأدب، ومن المؤكد أنها لا تزيد على أن تكون مجرد نماذج للكثيرين الذين عاشوا في هذه البلاد، فتركوا فيها من معالم الثقافة والحضارة ما كان يستحق أن ينبري لدرسه الباحثون، وأول أولئك الأعلام امیر بهدينان العظيم السلطان حسين الولي ( 940 - 981 ه / 1533 - 1573 م )، الذي تولى السلطة في لحظة بالغة الصعوبة من تاريخ بلاده، فاستطاع أن يجمع في شخصه كل صفات المحارب الباسل، والسياسي الداهية، والمعمر الباني، والعالم الراعي للعلماء والثقافة.
