من خلال هذا الكتاب أحاول أن أعيد تقديم دراستين من دراساتى التى حاولت رصد ودراسة ظاهرة العنف الموجه ضد المرأة، ولقد ركزت الدراسة الأولى التى يتضمنها هذا الكتاب على شكلين من أشكال العنف الموجه ضد المرأة، وهما : الضرب والختان، ولقد جمعت ما بين هذين الشكلين فى دراسة واحدة نظراً لعمق تأثيرهما على المرأة. أما الدراسة الثانية فقد ركزت على شكل خطير من أشكال العنف طالما التزمنا الصمت تجاهه وهو التحرش الجنسى بالمرأة، ويقع التحرش الجنسى بالمرأة فى إطار العنف الجنسى الموجه ضد المرأة فى المجتمع.
