الأسطورة في شعر البردوني عنوان خُيل إليّ - بداية - أنه عمل يسير ، وما أن بدأت البحث والتنقيب حتى وجدتني أمام سيل من المصطلحات المتداخلة والتي تحتاج إلى وقت أطول مما أملك للإحاطة بها ، فأول ما واجهني صعوبة تحليل المصطلح )الأسطورة( فقلما يتفق باحثان حول مفهوم محدد للأسطورة : فمنهم من يراها خرافة، ومنهم من يراها حقيقة، ومنهم من لا يفرق بينها وبين التاريخ، وبينها وبين الخرافة، ومنهم من يراها محض أكاذيب، ومنهم من يرى أن لها امتدادا في حقل الواقع. وآخر يرى أن الشخصية التاريخية التي كان لها دورها الإنساني في صنع التاريخ والدفاع عن بني البشر تصبح مع الصيرورة التاريخية رؤية أسطورية وحالة جمالية تفوق حد التخييل ، إن الاختلاف في تحديد ماهية الأسطورة وبواعثها ومكوناتها أدى إلى إخضاعها إلى مناهج فكرية عديدة تعاملت معها
