هذا الكتاب في جوهره يدور حول الوسيلة التي يمكننا بها أن نتعرف إلى الفوارق البشرية ونتفهمها ونقيّمها بطرق بناءة ومنتجة، ولقد ضمن الكتاب قصصاً شخصية عديدة أخذت من المجتمع ومن الخبرات التطوعية التي كان يقوم بها المؤلفان، وإليك ما يمكنك أن تتطلع إلى أن تجده في الفصول المقبلة. فالفصل الأول يصف نماذج (يونغ) و(مايرز)، ويدرس الافتراضات النظرى حول النمط، ويتقصى الفصل الثاني الأفضليات المهمة للنمط وسلوكاته الحركية القائمة على غنى في المعلومات.ويستكشف الفصل الثالث الطبقات الأعمق لتفاعلات النمط، ويتأمل في كيفية أنّ بعض هذه التفاعلات تظهر من خلال سلوكات قد تضلل المراقبين الهامشيين للنمط. ويراجع الفصل الرابع موضوعاً خاصاً في النمط السيكولوجي وهو ما يسمى بالوظيفة الدنيا (أو العمل الوضيع). يتفحص الفصل الخامس مواضيع توجيه وتطوير البالغين والتي يبرزها تطور النمط المرافق لنضوجه، يدرس الفصل السادس تداعيات النمط في دروب التواصل. أما موضوع تقييم الفوارق فقد تم دراسته في الفصل السابع مع شواهد مفصلة حول كيفية واحتمالات أن يمارس النمط التقييم وأن يعبر عنه، ويعرض الفصل الثامن لاستنتاجات المؤلفات ولتعليقاتهم حول التطور التالي للنمط السيكولوجي.
