قضيةَ تجديدِ الخطابِ الدينيِّ تحتل أهميةً بالغةً في وقتنا الرَّاهن ؛ نَتيجة لما يرتبط بهذا الخطاب من التباسٍ، وبما يكتنف بعضه من غُموضٍ قد يخرجه ـ أحيانا ـ عن جادةِ الصَّوابِ، من قبل فريقٍ يسعى جاهدا بأدواتٍ فقيرةٍ استغلال قضية تجديدِ الخطابِ الدِّينيِّ للعبث بأصولِ الدِّين وثوابته وأعمدته الرَّئيسة، وفي مقابل هذا الفريق نرى فريقا آخر يجلس على الشاطئ المقابل يرى أنَّ أية محاولةٍ لفتحِ بابِ التَّجديدِ هو خروج عن الإسلامِ ويجب مقاومته والتصدي له. بينما يشير البعض إلى ظهور تيارين في ظل تصاعد الحديث عن قضيةِ تجديدِ الفكرِ الدينيِّ ؛ أحدهما يرفض الإصلاح عامة، واختار طواعية طريق العنف والتطرف والإرهاب، فقدم بذلك صورة سلبية ومسيئة عن الإسلام، والآخر تيار إصلاحي وسطي يسعى إلى تقديم خطابٍ دينيٍّ يؤكد على إعمالِ العقل، والتجديد المستدام وموافقة التغييرات المعاصرة، ويجعل من تجديد الخطاب الديني حتمية وسبيلا للتعبير عن الإسلام الصالح لكل زمان ومكان. ومن هنا تأتي فكرة هذا الكتاب وهدفه كمحاولة جادة لتطوير الخطاب الديني من خلال محاور مفصلية رئيسة .
