يوسف مراد: هو واحدٌ من أبرزِ علماءِ النفسِ العرب؛ حيثُ اعتبرَهُ الكثيرُ منهم فيلسوفًا ومُنظِّرًا للمذهبِ التكامُليِّ في علمِ النفس.
وُلدَ يوسف مراد في القاهرةِ عامَ ١٩٠٢م، وأتمَّ الدراسةَ الابتدائيةَ والثانويةَ بمدارسِ «الفرير» الفرنسية، وحصل على البكالوريا، ثم عملَ مُدرِّسًا بمدارسِ العائلةِ المقدَّسةِ من عامِ ١٩٢٣م إلى ١٩٢٦م.
تخرَّجَ في قسمِ الفلسفةِ بكليةِ الآدابِ عامَ ١٩٣٠م، وسافَرَ في بعثةٍ إلى فرنسا عامَ ١٩٣١م، وحصل على شهادةِ الدراساتِ العُليا في علم النفسِ والأخلاقِ والاجتماعِ وتاريخِ الفلسفة، ثمَّ حصل على درجةِ الدكتوراه بمرتَبةِ الشرفِ عامَ ١٩٤٠م.
عادَ يوسف مراد إلى مصرَ عقبَ حصولِه على الدكتوراه، وقام بتدريسِ علمِ النفسِ باللغةِ العربيةِ لأولِ مرةٍ في الكليةِ بديلًا للمُدرسِ الفرنسي؛ وذلكَ باعتبارِه أولَ عضوِ بعثةٍ في الجامعاتِ المصريةِ يعودُ إلى مصرَ بعد حصولِه على الدكتوراه من فرنسا.
أشرفَ يوسف مراد على عدَّةِ رسائلَ للماجستيرِ والدكتوراه، وألقى مجموعةً من المحاضَراتِ بالجمعيةِ الجغرافيةِ بالقاهرة، وقام بتأسيسِ جماعةِ علمِ النفسِ التكامُليِّ عامَ ١٩٤٥م، ومجلةِ علمِ النفس، ونشَرَ بحوثًا للأساتذةِ ولطلبةِ الدراساتِ العُليا بالعربيةِ والإنجليزيةِ والفرنسية.
كتَبَ العديدَ من المؤلَّفات، منها: كتابُ «سيكولوجية الجنس»، و«دراسات في التكامل النفسي»، و«شفاء النفس».
تُوفِّيَ عامَ ١٩٦٦م.

يُقسِّم علماء الفسيولوجيا الوظائف العُضوية إلى ثلاثِ طوائف: وظائف التَّغذية، وظائف الحسِّ والحركة، ثُم وظائف التناسُل. وتشمَل الأولى عمليَّات الهَضْم والدَّورة الدَّمويَّة والتنفُّس وإخراج الفَضَلات، وهذه العمليَّات مُجتمعةً تؤدِّي إلى نموِّ الأنسِجة وتوليد الطاقة والحرارة التي يَستهلِكُها الحَيوان في أثناء الحركة.
