خير الدين بربروس باشا (بالتركية: Barbaros Hayreddin Paşa)، (ميلاد: 1470 في جزيرة لسبوس - وفاة: 5 يوليو 1546 في إسطنبول)، ناظر (وزير) البحرية قائد القوات البحرية والي الجزائر بربروس خير الدين باشا. اسمه الأصلي خضر بن يعقوب وعُرف باسم خضر ريس (لقب لقباطين البحر) ولَقَّبهُ السلطان سليم الأول بخير الدين باشا، وعُرف لدى الأوروبيين ببارباروسا أي ذو اللحية الحمراء (barba: لحية، rossa: أحمر)، حيث أن الأوروبيين لقّبوا أخاه الأكبر عروج ريس بِاسم عرّوج بارباروسا بسبب لحيته الحمراء، وبعد وفاة عروج ريس، استخدموا أيضا نفس الاسم لشقيقه الأصغر خضر. هو أحد أكبر قادة الأساطيل العثمانية إن لم يكن أشهرهم، وأحد رموز الجهاد البحري. أهم مساعديه ابناه الريسان "حسن الكبير" (بيوك حسن) و"حسن الصغير" (كوجوك حسن) كلاهما صار "باشا". شارك مع أخويه عروج وإلياس في غزوات بحرية عديدة ثم تولى منصب حاكم إيالة الجزائر ثم عينه السلطان سليمان القانوني كأول قائد عام لجميع الأساطيل البحرية للخلافة العثمانية عام 1534م فانتقل إلى إسطنبول، وعزز السيادة العثمانية في البحر الأبيض المتوسط، حتى أصبح يشار إليه "بالبحيرة التركية" (بالتركية: Türk Gölü) من قبل بعض المؤرخين. ذاعت شهرته بسبب فتوحاته البحرية العظيمة. وضَع نظام السياسة البحرية العثمانية ونظَام حوضِ بناء السفن العثماني
