معالجه فلسفية شاعرية لتجربة شخصية عن الحمل الأول الذي لم ترغب به الدكتورة عاليه شعيب. الفصول مكتوبة تحت تأثير واضح للإضطراب المصاحب لهرمونات الحمل والولادة. تركيز الكاتبة كان على تأثير مشاعر الظلم والجوانب الفيسيولوجية لبدانة الحمل على صحتها النفسية وتوازنها العقلي. بعض الأحداث مثيرة للتعاطف كاستباحة وانتهاك خصوصياتها من الأطباء المعالجين، فقدان والدها، عدم قدرة والدتها على الإنتماء والاندماج بالمجتمع الكويتي، ومن عزلتها عن أقرب أفراد عائلتها وإن كانت العزلة من اختيارها. استغربت عدم التطرق لأدنى دور للزوج لا بالإيجاب ولا بالسلب ربما لتحفظات قضائية آنذاك. فوجئت وانا وسط احداث الرواية انها حقيقية المؤلفة لا ترمز ولا تتخيل ولا تختلق شخصيات يمكن أن تلقي بظلالها على الواقع بل تكتبهم بالفعل، بالاسم، بالصوت والحركة والروح بدت لي الرواية مجموعة مذكرات أو سيرة ذاتية مصاغة بأسلوب روائي لا اكثر.
