تكمن الجدوى المتوخّاة من تقديم قراءة جديدة لجاليليو جاليلي في استلهام التّجربة الثّوريّة الغربيّة التي تغيب عنّا في عالَمنا العربيّ بشكلِها المُقنَّن والمدروس؛ إذ غالبًا ما يُستحضَر جاليليو عندنا على شكل معلومات تاريخية مجرّدة، وليس بوصفه ضربةً موجعة أيقظت الذّهن البشريّ عامّة ونقلَته إلى أفقٍ جديد.إنّ قراءة جاليليو كفيلةٌ بتمكينِنا من فَهْم الجذور العِلميّة للحداثة الغربيّة، وهي جذورٌ أفضت إلى ما يسمّى "العَلمانيّة" بوصفها فصلًا للدّين عن الدّولة، الأمر الذي يعني أنّها لم تكن أبدًا اختيارًا، بل كانت ضرورة مُلِحَّة فرضت نفسها بقوّة المُتغيِّر العِلميّ الحداثيّ الغربيّ. وتكمن جدوى قراءة جاليليو كذلك، في اكتشاف أقنعةٍ أخرى له غير تلك المتعارف عليها؛ وبالتالي إزاحة الستارة عن وجوهٍ جديدةِ في شخصّيته.
