هذا العمل هو جهد جماعي لطلبة مادة النظرية الديمقراطية في برنامج الدكتوراه في العلوم السياسية بالجامعة الأردنية خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني للعام الجامعي 2020 / 2021 ، إذ ساهم معظم الطلبة في كتابة المباحث المختلفة في هذا الكتاب الشامل، بعد نقاشا طويلة مثمرة وحوارا طيلة فصل دراسي كامل، ومناقشة كل مبحث على حدة، مما دفعني لطرح فكرة تجميع هذه المباحث في صيغة كتاب ي ق د م للمكتبة العربية والباحثين والدارسين، علّ وعسى تكون فيه الفائدة العلمية والفكرية في نشر القيم الديمقراطية والتطور التاريخي للمفهوم، وأنماط التطبيقا العملية السائدة عالميًّ ا، وإعطاء فرصة للدارسين والباحثين للتعمق بالنظرية الديمقراطية وتطورها، وآليا التعامل معها خصوصا في مجتمعاتنا العربية. وقد اعتمد مباحث هذا الكتاب على أمها الكتب باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية، وجهود من سبقونا في الكتابة عن الديمقراطية من أساتذة كبار ومترجمين ومعقّبين وناقدين من مختلف الدول العربية الشقيقة.
