ومن أجواء الرواية "عقلهُ يَزِن كل الأمور بمقدار، كما توزنُ المعادلاتِ الكيميائية التي اعتاد أن يعامل كل شيء في حياته معاملتها، إلاها.. هي المعادلة الوحيدة التي استعصى عليهِ وزنها، لأنها بذاتها غير مفهومةٌ ماهيتها، لم يقرأها عقله بعد، قلبه فقط قرأها، والقَلبُ لا يَزِن ولا يترجم المعايير، وكأنها وُجدت في حياتِه لتجلبَ له بعض المفاهيم التي لم يألفها، كالرغبة في التنهد ليلًا، أو الشرودِ عند المرور بآياتٍ في سورة النورِ، أو التلعثم مع الزبائن حين ينطق لهم أسماء الأدوية، لقد شغفتهُ وهو البعيدُ عن كل مرادفات الشغف، معها يشعر أنه يمتلك قوةً لا تضاهيها قوة، تلك القوة المحشوة بالرحمة، إذ يكاد ينفجر غضبًا فيأخذ قرارًا بنسيانٍ أو تمرد وهو حقًا قادرٌ على الهجر والتجاهل، لكن شيئًا منها يدغدغ مواضع الرحمة في قوتهِ، يُداعب مواضع اللينِ في قسوته، فيضطرب لأنها تنفي ما رآهُ عيوبًا فيها بكلمةٍ أو بحركةٍ أو بلمحة أو بفكرة واحدة، لا يستطيع إدراكها ككل لأنها في عقله ِ عبارة عن أجزاء، جزءٌ ملائكي صامت مبتسم شارد وضعيف، جزءٌ قوي صلب يهزم الدنيا حين تتحداها، وجزء روحاني أصيل لا يراهُ فيها إلا من كان لديهِ مثله".
