صدر للمؤرخ محمـد بن علي آل هزاع مع بداية هذا العام 2022 أحدث كتاب حول الصراع العربي البرتغالي ذلك الصراع الذي مثل أول مواجهة مع أول مستعمر أوربي في بدايات حركة الكشوف الجغرافية، والكتاب صادر عن دار غراب للنشر والتوزيع بالقاهرة ويعد الكتاب تحولا في شكل الكتابة التاريخية حيث يعرض وبصورة تحليلية متقنة لموضوع قل تناولة رغم أهميته. مثل الصراع العربي البرتغالي علي الجانب الشرقي من المنطقة العربية ( الخليج العربي وجنوب الجزيرة العربية) مرحلة خطيرة في تاريخها، وكان بمثابة نقطة تحول معاكسة حيث عرقل نهوضها بعد ازدهارحضاري شهدته سواحلها وموانيها علي مدارقرون عدة، وفي تصوري المتواضع أن تلك القضية هي صلب الخطاب الذي بني علي أساسه المؤرخ عناصر كتابه وأبوابه الأربعة وهي قضية جديرة بإعادة النظر كما أوضح فالواقع المؤلم الذي بدأ منذ مقدم المستعمر البرتغالي و استمر لأكثر من مئة وخمسين عاما (1507-1625) أثر سلبا علي اقتصاد كان مزدهرا وكيانات سياسية قوية.إلي جانب ما ارتكبته القوات البرتغالية من جرائم حرب غير مسبوقة في بشاعتها ضد أبناء المنطقة طالت الكبير والصغير وأتت علي الأخضر واليابس بما أشعله قادة مثل دالبوكيرك من حرائق للموانئ في عمان وغيرها بل ما انتواه البرتغاليون من الدخول إلي مكه والمدينة ونبش قبر الرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام.
