هذه طبعة جديدة من كتاب "الزخرفة والألوان" الذي وضع لطلبة المدارس ليشرح لهم قواعد الزخارف وأصولها ويعطيهم فكرة عن الألوان وطرق تنسقيها، ويوضح صلتها بمختلف الحرف والصناعات وبجميع ما في الحياة من مظاهر الجمال والانسجام ، ويظهر ارتباطها الوثيق بالذوق السليم. فالكتاب يضع للطالب نهجاً واضحاً وخطة متدرجة محكمة الاتصال، وترشد المدرس إلى خير الطرق التي تبعث شوق الطلاب وتثير سرورهم وتدفعهم إلى العمل بشوق ونشاط. وقد أورد الكتاب من الأمثلة والرسوم ما يعتقد أنه كاف لشرح أصول الزخرفة والألوان وإعطاء الطالب فكرة صريحة واضحة عنها. على أنه ليس الغرض أن ينقل الطالب الرسوم نقلاً صامتاً آلياً خالياً من التصرف والابتكار بل المقصود ضرب الأمثلة وشرح القواعد البسيطة والأصول الأولية وتمهيد الطريق إلى الإنشاء والابتداع.
