أحمد رجب شلتوت (17 أبريل 1962) كاتب مصري ينتمى لمدينة أبو النمرس، حاصل على بكالوريوس تجارة من جامعة القاهرة ويعمل محاسبا وحصل على جوائز ادبية عدة منها جائزة جريدة الشعب المركز الأول في القصة سنة 1989 ونادي القصة المركز الأول سنة 1997 وجائزة احسان عبد القدوس سنة 2008 وجمعية الأدباء سنة 2007 وجائزة ساقية الصاوى للقصة القصيرة جدا قي2010وفاز مرات عديدة في مسابقات الثقافة الجماهيرية ووزارة الشباب في القصة القصيرة والرواية والمسرحية. اصدر 4مجموعات قصصية هي العائد إلى فرحانة 1996 والسعار والشذى 1998 ودم العصفور 2002.ساعة قبل النوم2009 وفى عا م2006 اصدر رواية حالة وشحن وقصص للاطفال بعنوان العش للعصافير.

يليس جون ديوي مجهولًا من جمهور المثقفين في الشرق العربي، إذ نقلت آراؤه في التربية منذ زمن طويل، وأتخذها المعلمون الذين درسوا في معاهد التربية نبراسًا لهم. وترجمت له كتب كثيرة إلى العربية، منها «الديمقراطية والتربية»، و«الخبرة والتربية»، و«الحرية والثقافة»، و«تجديد في الفلسفة» و«آراء توماس جيفرسون الحية». وعلى الرغم من أن أحدًا غيره من الفلاسفة لم يظفر بترجمة هذا العدد من مؤلفاته إلى العربية - فيما عدا أفلاطون وأرسطو من القدماء وقلة من المحدثين - فلم يكتب عنه كتاٌب مستقل يحلل فلسفته، ويشرحها، ويقدمها إلى الجمهور العربي. ولعل ذلك يرجع إلى وفرة تآليفه، ودقة مذهبه، ووعورة أسلوبه. ولم يكن ديوي معترفًا به كأبرز مفکرينا فقط، بل كان الممثل الذي تجسدت فيه معظم الأمور التي نعدها أمريكية، ففيه مزيج من البرجماتية التي تؤكد ميزان النتائج العملية، والمنهج العلمي، والإختراعات التكنولوجية، والديمقراطية بإعتبارها شكلًا للحكومة وطريقة للحياة على حد سواء، والروح الأمريكية الأولى بما كانت تمتاز به من إيمان بأن الرجل العادي يستطيع أن يبني بالتعاون حضارة أكثر إنسانية.
